Being A "Taxi" Again

We need not look back every now and then;
But once in a while, it’s a beautiful feeling to dwell in the past..

TAXI!!!!!!- Yes that’s exactly what my friends shouted out followed by a roar of laughter when they saw me dressed in a yellow and black outfit. Those were my days in the city of Bombay when the only cabs available were yellow and black Ambassadors and Fiats. That moment of being compared to a ‘taxi’ was quite embarrassing for a five year old girl. This petty incident had taken up a near-permanent space in my subconscious mind and while carrying along that same vibe of embarrassment I never wore a black and yellow ensemble ever!

After all these years of working upon each of my fears this memory suddenly flashed across my eyes on a quiet Sunday noon and I instantly decided to get over this old embarrassment baggage by stepping out in a black and yellow outfit.

Going back in time

The ideal way to live life is to keep going ahead right? Yet, you’d want to go back and re-live a lot of joyous moments and, there would be probably an equal number of incidences that would make you feel relieved about the fact that your past- cannot be retrieved! But what you are today is a product of all the experiences that you’ve had since your first breath- and some of them may have been strong enough to build a personality trait or an attitude (strong opinion) about something. These are deep-rooted characteristics of a person and changing them is not easy. Stronger the impact of an incident the more deep-rooted is its resulting behavior. If you’re onto the path of freeing up your mind from all the additional baggage- fear, hatred, sadness, anxiety, guilt, embarrassment, the only way you can do it is reaching up to their roots.

Facing it

Once we develop and well, nourish a thought, value or a behavioral trait, we spontaneously tend to repel anything that contrasts because our experiences, over a period of time become so internalized that contrasting ideas appear like a sword- ready to chop us down to pieces. But in order to grow a new tree where space is limited, you need to pull the roots of the old one and sow a new seed!

My present day ‘Taxi’ look

I confidently walked into an amusement park- wearing a yellow and black ensemble. Honestly no one called me a ‘Taxi’ this time (for most of the people around were strangers) yet I did notice a couple of confused faces- trying to assess my style quotient - but as long as I stood tall and determined, I didn’t mind it at all!

So there- one more ‘extra luggage’ unloaded off my mind and the journey to betterment goes on!
