2016- Rising of The Girl Boss

Image
Time flies, not to throw us off track, But to take us along to conquer our dreams.                                                ~ Bhavna Narang Hey beautiful souls! Hope you all had a fantastic Christmas! With the New Year round the corner, I took a quick look-back to the magical year. I believe year endings call for retrospection and introspection and so indeed I did both. The year 2016 has been a tremendously generous year, bringing in blessings beyond my expectations! From a memorable vacation that I had been planning since a long time, to professional growth and so much more; this year has blessed me on professional and personal fronts equally. It has even taught me a lot about the right attitude for life, which I thought should be shared with you all. The Attitude of Dare When you dream, you should have the willingness to take steps in that direction. Break free from your routine, challenge your limits and venture out into the unknown. You have the

The Fusion Drape

Hey lovelies! Hope you’re enjoying the wedding season! Indian weddings are fun- catching up with people, colourful surroundings, music and loads of celebrations. Talking about wedding wardrobe, the Indian saree has been an eternal trend for all occasions. Every state has of India has multiple styles of draping a saree. Recently I started a little research on saree draping and came across a new trending saree drape. Saree and denim: An ethno-contemporary look that is quick, easy and quite comfortable to carry around, specially for the younger lot. For the look, I picked up a contrasting colour combination with a blue coloured blouse matching my blue denims and a yellow cotton saree having subtle ethnic prints. The look was completed with beige heels, a pair of golden danglers and dark lip colour to add more spunk. The Draping Style: The draping begins by making pleats (you have to make double number of pleats as compared to the regular saree drape) and attach them

DIY Pompom Tie-up Sandals

Image
“If you want something go get it. Period.”                          ~ Will Smith Hello beautiful souls! I had mentioned in my previous post about something creative and colourful coming up. Here it is! Last month I was browsing through the internet when a colourful pair of sandals caught my attention. They were the worldwide trending pompom tie-up sandals. In a moment I decided to possess one of those. These tie-ups come in endless combinations of colours and baubles. I looked out for suppliers online. There were a couple of suppliers that offered almost similar ones but they being located outside India, the price went beyond my budget. The ones falling within my fixed budget didn’t appeal to me. When it comes to my wardrobe, I’m totally sorted, clear about exactly what I want. Also, I believe that we should fulfill our desires, but be rational with our resources. So I decided to make a pair of pompom tie-up sandals for myself. I have shared the process of maki

Lens & The Twirl

She just went on, For she knew she was born to shine. Hello beautiful souls! My new   post got a little delayed. I won’t give any excuses though!   But yes, I promise to keep writing and sharing my thoughts and experiences. Recently I had a shoot with Femina for their festive special issue. Kinjal, features editor at Femina beautifully brought together fashion bloggers and stylists from Ahmedabad with their choice of outfit for Diwali. Here’s a quick look-back to the excitement behind-the-scenes! The Outfit I had chosen a long Anarkali from SPAN clothing. Long Anarkalis quite appeal to me because they look like an Indian version of evening gown. As much as I prefer black as my wardrobe colour, I pay equal attention to colours. For a festival like Diwali, a colourful outfit was must. So this was it! My favourite black and festive colours playfully together! As mentioned in my earlier posts, I prefer minimal accessories. One statement jewelry piece

The Princess Diary

The day you meet the Princess in You, Life will start surprising you!                                                          -Bhavna Narang Each day I as I wake up, the first thing I do is thank God for this life. There is abundance of so many things, things that is a dream for millions of people, I feel blessed; I feel like a Princess. Over these years, I have also learnt that your life is your own gift, your own responsibility. You are ultimate ruler of your life. The success, the failure, the happiness, the struggle, the pain, it is all yours. In the end, it will be your own life story that will flash before your eyes. On the other hand, your life has many other lives attached to it- your family, friends, boss, colleagues, clients, associates, neighbors and plenty of other categories of people. Being social animals, you tend to crave for social acceptance and this craving may drive you to sacrifice your own share of happiness. You lose your master self,

Meet&Greet with Shantanu & Nikhil

Image
“As you go along, You must grow along.”                         -Shantanu & Nikhil When the successful ones share their story, the aspiring ones would be all ears. Recently fashion bloggers from Ahmedabad had a candid interview session with celebrity designers Shantanu & Nikhil at their new store opening in the city; their seventh flagship store in India. Having designed for an elite list of clients, including the legend Mr. Amitabh Bachchan and a number of B-town beauties, these celebrity designers were most humble and grounded. The journey upwards in an industry that is highly unpredictable can never be a cake-walk and the ones who make it big there, surely deserve more accolades. Shantanu and Nikhil started their team journey during the beginning of the new millennium, a time when the fashion industry was in its infancy. Being from a humble background, they have worked from ground zero and come a long way to establishing themselves globally in the glittering

A Walk With Nature

“The world makes you stronger, Reality makes you hard; But let that feather-like heart beat in delight,    Let your innocence stay alive.”                                                      -Bhavna Narang Heya! A cheerful greeting to all! After another fun-filled week, I’m back with a new post. Many people who interact with me on a regular basis ask me the secret behind my never-ending happiness. I keep hearing questions like- “What’s so special?” “How do you put up a show?” “Even I want to be so happy always. Tell me the secret!” Well, really there’s no secret. No one has a perfect life and no one is an exception to this fact! When I was schooling, one of our teachers once told us, “Life is not a garden of roses. But it’s not a garden of thorns either.” That sentence keeps popping up in my mind whenever I face difficulties. It reminds me that the bad phase will soon end. Of course it eventually does, but the memories leave a mark of bitterness that ha

Plain Jane in Style!

Image
“Your mind needs peace to survive; And your heart needs happiness.”                           -Bhavna Narang Hey all!! After a highly active week I’m back with a new look! These days I had been attending lots of formal events and causal get-togethers, and styling is about looking presentable everywhere! So there I was, each time getting decked-up in different styles of outfits, statement jewelry, colorful clutches and bags and plethora of heels. So on one of these events, I just decided to do away with all striking stuff and opted for a plain Jane look, making sure that it wouldn’t compromise on my style quotient. The event was a brunch party during the inauguration of a wedding shopping festival in the city. Given the early hours of the day, I wanted to have an emsemble that had softer hues. So I picked up my favorite peach-beige long flared skirt. I wanted to avoid adding too many colours and so I

Fetish For Coordination

Image
“Chase with love what you want and You shall get what you seek”                                        -Bhavna Narang Shopping is such a soothing activity when you get exactly what you want. To me, shopping is not about always picking up big brands or endlessly adding things to my cart. It’s more like a treasure hunt. I love checking out places to get the best for my wardrobe. Coordinated bags and shoes have well been in trend for quite a long time. Although paired bags and footwear are available at many places, the choice of colours and patterns is limited, especially in case of casual wear. So whenever I want coordinated accessories, I prefer to buy the footwear or the bag that appeals to me and then hunt for the other matching component that fits my style. On a trip to Hong Kong a few weeks ago, I picked up an embellished denim bag. Though a little oversized and loud compared to my regular accessories, it added bling and variety to my closet. Now my

STYLE- The Inner Connection

Image
“In her passion lay a secret; She lived to grow, to accomplish and to Bring her dreams to life.” -Bhavna Narang Style is no secret. It’s just how you put yourself together and carry off yourself with confidence and pride. Writing is one of the ways my thoughts get to breathe. Being the first post on my blog, it’s bound to be a little more philosophical for I believe that style is incomplete without the right mindset. So long as you celebrate your state of being and life’s gifted possessions with postivity, you have the ability to make heads turn and that’s what style is all about. While style resides completely within you, fashion relates to your possessions. Fashion is the plethora of options in clothes, accessories, cosmetics and other wardrobe components. You tend to select things that match your inner self. That is where style and fashion come together. In my first post, I opted to write about the colour that has dominated my wardrobe for years. Every col
