It's Christmas Week!

Image
“Even if you have to go with the flow, Make sure you keep your balance.” Hi there! It’s been a while since I posted on my blog. There were no plans to abscond :D. Some of my friends and readers asked me if I’d quit blogging, well No! Sometimes life surrounds you with stuff in such a way that you’re only left with exploring your own potential. And when you’ve chiseled yourself precisely with all the chaotic toughness, it’s indeed a euphoric feeling! Strolling out is fun these days, for its Christmas time! With hardly a week left for the lovely festival, the city is so beautifully decorated with lights, Christmas trees, baubles and yes, Santa Claus. Since my childhood days, this festival has always fascinated me. The very idea of Santa coming on a flying sleigh and keeping gifts on my window seemed so real when every year I woke up to find lovely things on my window. And one day I finally realized that my parents were my Santa! Having realized that it was

The Weather Game

Image
The weather these days has been behaving like the stock market. You would never have the slightest idea that a day which began with a chill would witness a splatter of rain followed by a hot and humid evening. I’ve been eagerly waiting to step out into a cool winter day but the sun has been behaving like a strict guard, hovering over all the time! During my childhood and teenage years I hated winters because I had to wake up trembling at 6 am! But of course, these days when waking up so early is not a compulsion, I like stepping out in to the early morning chill for a while to see the orange rays of the sun add colour to the dull grey winter sky. It’s quite normal to hate rules while embracing the same thing when taken up voluntarily, isn’t it? So now I quite adore this season for its pleasant climate, colorful cardigans and of course, gaajar-ka-halwa! For a month I had been longing to wear my denim jacket and finally there came a pleasant (not cold) day when m

Cocktail !!

Image
Hello lovely souls!  The biggest festival of Diwali is just round the corner and I’m sure you’re all rushing over to get your house sorted (the tedious ‘Diwali ki safai’). The crazy festive rush has just begun and I’m already longing for a holiday. It’s been a while since I traveled last for somehow I just cannot part with my work! Talking about work, every now and then I meet new people who first ask me about what I do and my answer usually leaves them baffled. And when they ask me, “Content writing, jewelry designing and blogging is what kind a combination?” my short reply is always, “It’s a cocktail!” The idea of being multi-skilled sunk into my brain a long time ago and I just went on joining different institutes and making the most of my life by learning new things. Diamond grading, the art of make-up or each and everything that I’ve learnt (including my education) has only enriched my life. I believe that every bit of learning will work for you at some point of tim

Monday Blues!

Image
Hey! Here comes another new week and a re-start to chasing your amazing dreams. Every week I see a lot of cribbing posts on Monday blues. Well I don’t deny that sometimes, especially after a long weekend getting back to work seems like the first day at school, but complaining about it all the time is overboard! Constant cribbing is a habit that creates a negative aura and ultimately affects your work performance and your achievements. There are things that you cannot change so why not go through it in peace! After all, on every Monday another weekend is just 5 days away! For years, I have been training my mind to see the good in everything and everyone and to avoid cribbing as far as possible. In a broader sense, it does not mean that you put up with something wrong, it’s about overlooking petty things and accepting those that will not change! As this ideology seeped into my system I have been able to focus better on my work. My energy levels stay high and I never get a

Navratri Wardrobe Ideas- Go Contemporary!

Image
Cheers! The festive season is just round the corner! The groovy nine nights of Navratri is one of the most happening festivals in Gujarat. Colorful flares, oxidized jewelry and those lovely embellished dupattas- the market is full of amazing ethnic stuff these days. Every year, even if I don’t want to shop, I make it a point to walk through these colourful markets to take in the beauty and excitement surround this wonderful season. Heavy chaniya cholis with silver and funky jewelry is the usual dress code followed during this time. But style is all about being different and most important- being You. So I tried some wardrobe variations that would be apt for Navratri as well as blend with my preference for simplicity. The outfit that is shown in the pictures is a black cotton trouser and crop top coordinate. I draped a colorful dupatta over my shoulders and held it in place with the help of a stretchable waist-belt. I pulled out the outer edges of the dupa

Stepping Ahead With Polka-Play

Image
‘I have to rock!’ is my daily morning mantra. Today, as I complete another year of my amazing life, gratitude seeps deeper into my soul and my mind steps up into an all new level of strength. Well that’s what we are born for- to be the best version of ourselves! In a world where goals turn into a race, I believe in moving at my own sweet pace. We all live our own story of goals, dreams and wishes. Ideally, our story should be independent of what goes on elsewhere. Living other people’s story can only make one’s life more complicated and the beauty of life lies in its simplicity. As you focus on your own story, you start chasing excellence and that- is where real success comes in. Focus makes you stronger, wiser and eventually happier. Pink and Polka These days, polka dots have been getting more space in my closet. And of course, I might never get over pink! Pink, black and white make a playful combination. When it comes to styling, I prefer comfort over fashion

Lovely Locks with Hair & Care Fruit Oil

Image
Hello everyone! Hope you’re all doing great! Well I got a hamper from Hair & Care few weeks ago that had some pretty colourful bottles of hair oil. They have recently launched a new range of fruit oils with assortments of strawberries, sweet lime, green apple, pomegranate, olives and oranges. I used the orange variant of the hair oil (containing orange, pomegranate and strawberry extracts) for a couple of days and here’s what I have to say about it: The first thing you notice about these colorful oils is their effervescent fragrance. This oil is less sticky and when applied in small quantities after hair-wash, gives your hair a finish similar to a serum thus making your locks manageable and easy to style. For people having wavy and wild locks like mine, this oil is a convenient product and better than a serum since it also nourishes your hair well. These fruit oils are also very light in density so they do not give that typical oily sheen to your hair. So you can regularl

Celebrating Freedom

Image
Today is indeed a very special day, because apart from celebrating Independence Day, I will be celebrating the first anniversary of my blog. As my baby blog turns one, I sincerely want to thank each and every one who has been a part of my blogging life- brands that collaborated, blog readers, social media followers, photographers and all those who have contributed to my blog in any way. Since it is Independence Day, I want to share my idea of freedom. To me, freedom is being yourself. Most of us try to fit ourselves into other people’s image of us. Trying to be the ideal one in every role that we play is like white light giving up its pristine hue and splitting into seven colours forever. Even though each of the spectrum colours is beautiful, they can never replace the beauty of white light. In the same way, no matter how much you change yourself to fit into the many roles that you play, you must never lose your essence, for the real person behind those masks, is irreplac

The Modern Red Riding Hood

Image
Be The Smartest Version Of Yourself We grew up listening to stories. Some fairytales made us believe in magic, while many of them gave us lessons to remember for life. One such anecdote which my mother narrated when I was a kid was the story of The Little Red Riding Hood. To summarize quickly, it tells us about a little girl, who goes to meet her ailing grandmother. She comes across a wolf on her way and on being questioned, tells the wolf about her journey to her grandmother’s house. By doing so, she puts her granny’s life as well as her own life in danger. Of course, in the end, both the ladies are saved by the villagers. Talking about reality, we are surrounded by such stories, just that they are much more complicated. For example, in this story as Red comes across one wolf; in reality we are surrounded by beasts. The only difference is that they are masked with human faces. These beasts are out there to obstruct your growth, to make you deviate from

The Girl Boss Diary- 2

Believe that you’re worth it, Because you really are. Life is like a vast ocean- an ocean full of dreams that are like small beautiful islands scattered everywhere. Our journey entails going from one island to another, stopping at each island and taking in its beautiful view before we proceed to the next one. The roller coaster that life is, our journey from one island to another is not always smooth. There are tides and undercurrents that sometimes aid while at times obstruct our journey. When the tides and undercurrents go against our path, we get two choices- to swim against the hurdles to reach our destination or go with the tide. If we go with the tide, we may reach at a place that may not be the one where we wanted to be. So then begins the story of complaints, dissatisfaction and helplessness. When it comes to goals, I believe there is nothing such as ‘helplessness’. Wherever we are, whatever we face is a result of those continuous choices that we make
