How To Create Your Own Fairytale

Image
Happily Ever After - these three beautiful words are written at the end of every fairytale. We’ve all been brought up reading and listening to these beautiful stories. The simplicity of these anecdotes still fascinates me and reinforces the hope of having a perfect world and a blissful life but alas! Most of the time reality is quite different. As we grow up, we tend to give in to the chaos happening around, letting the fairytale vibe escape away. We all go through ups and downs in life and over the years I have realized that fairytales don’t spontaneously exist- but they can be Created. Practically- a fairytale is just a state of mind. So while life goes on as dictated by the Universe and your destiny, you can script your story within its boundaries. With the strongest desire of living a fairytale life- these are my little attempts: Living in a realistic bubble When I was a kid, often I used to come back from school crying because my friends used to make fun

Dare To Be Mean

She dreams...she works...she grows...she gets better and no matter what, she never stops believing in herself. Her goals run through her veins, keeping her alive ….brining bliss into her life every moment. We all want to be happy don’t we? And at the same time, we want people around us to be happy too and the kind ones, the generous ones prefer going that extra mile to raise the number of smiling faces around them. But alas! In the process sometimes they tend to lose their own essence, dimming their own life. A lot of us can relate to this and well, also through the emotional ups and downs of not being appreciated for our sacrifices. A Selfish Move As children, we were taught to be ‘selfless’, to serve mankind and to make a positive difference around. But I feel that ‘growing up’ is a lesson that is far better and significant than all the morals put together from these childhood bed-time and school textbook stories. Prioritizing yourself or others is not as simple

The Girl Boss Diary 3

Image
A Boss- or a Slave- it’s all in your mind! Hello all you beautiful souls! I used the term ‘beautiful souls’ for I believe that everyone is beautiful at the core. We’re all different shades of grey and until you don’t receive a negative vibe from people, you should think of them as being good! I was recently having a small conversation about being a ‘real boss’ when the person in dialogue told me, “Bhavna you’re an entrepreneur. You can call yourself a Girl Boss. People like us who do a job do not have that liberty” I assume a lot of people doing jobs may be having this feeling and that’s what inspired me to dedicating a post to it! For those who know me closely, have an idea about my career graph- it has been quite varied. I have explored my skills in different areas like academics, content writing, jewellery designing, creative arts and even digital marketing. Not all of them have been my own venture! I am as much an employee as much as I am an entrepreneur. But I

ME vs ME

Another attempt at my most recent shopping trip and yet again a failed one! Goal? – Buying a printed outfit. My closet is full of plain stuff- in every possible colour. There are loads of reds, blacks and whites and pretty shades of pink, a few tones of green, yellow, purple and almost the entire rainbow- but most of them are either plain or have very little amount of prints. Having noticed the growing monotony despite the wide assortment of outfits that I possess, whenever I go shopping I try picking up a printed garment but somehow most of the times I end up buying another plain one! Style reflects your personality In my very first post on this blog, I had mentioned that style has a strong connection with your inner self- it reflects your heart, mind and soul. The act of subconsciously avoiding prints is an outcome of that. I prefer surroundings that are calm and soothing and having too many prints there somehow just don’t fit in. To put it in another way, th

The Rainbow Is Everywhere!

Halfway through monsoon and I still haven’t seen a single rainbow! Every year whenever I see the sun while it’s drizzling, I rush to my verandah or to the terrace, trying to spot that splendid band of colours and even if I find a part of the spectrum band, I feel so lucky! But sadly this year, there’s been no luck so far. Just like the rainbow there’s an endless list of things and sights that make me happy and I’m sure you all must be having your own list of things that delight you. With a clear-cut list most of us keep hunting around for these things; in simple language we search for happiness and when we don’t find that particular thing, we’re not happy. So like each time I run into the verandah in search of a rainbow and I don’t see it, I feel glum. After having waited for a couple of weeks and having no luck with spotting the rainbow, I was one day casually strolling around a kid’s play area when I saw this beautiful play of colours; not exactly the rainbow which

Walk At Your Own Pace

Goals and more goals- achievements-success-money-fame-being above everyone else- Woh! Isn't that too much to chase all at once? And even if it's not, then there are a lot of things missing out here like a delightful day with your family, seeing your kids grow, feeling the rain fall on your face, the changing colours of sky and so many beautiful  things around to appreciate! I've always been one of those who like to take in the beauty of life at every step. Recently someone asked me, "What is your dream project?" Basically I consider my entire life as a series of dream projects, celebrating every little success, learning from my shortcomings and getting better. These days, there's such a rush everywhere, it feels as if the world has turned into a video game and people are moving around like Mario, trying to grab as many coins as they can, pushing away those little monsters that come in their way. I don't say that being ambitious is bad

A Filter Of Joy

Hey beautiful souls! I hope you’re enjoying the change in weather. I know the climate hasn’t been pleasant at a lot of places, but at least it seems we’re done away with heat waves for a while. Recently someone asked me, “how can you be so cheerful all the while Bhavna? How do you put up a show?” I just laughed out on hearing that. There’s no way one can put up a show 24*7. Being cheerful and happy is all about living with a mindset that nurtures these emotions. One of my domestic helpers recently was struggling with a couple of issues, finances being one of them. I saw her working overtime at a neighbor’s place and amidst all the stress when her infant grandson crawled up to her, she stole a few moments and laughed along with him. In another incident, I called up an old friend on her birthday. She was on her out for a family dinner. For the first five minutes she only kept narrating how her kid kept her on her toes and wouldn’t let her stay at peace. And when I aske

Judge Me Right

“I’m not like that” “I can explain” “You got me wrong” “Don’t think that way please” These statements sound too familiar right? I’m sure most of you must have used them multiple times. Honestly I’ve myself used them a lot of times, but only when I grew up. Childhood is actually the happiest phase of one’s life. Children tend to live in their own world, they do their own thing and you’ll hardly find them explaining themselves well unless they’ve been questioned by their parents for their naughtiness. Apart from that, kids are like free birds! Humans are indeed a very powerful species. Blessed with an intelligent mind, we have the ability to judge people and this ability gets stronger as we grow. In fact as we’re progressing towards advanced levels of civilization, it has become easier for us to form judgments about others. We’re smart enough to draw conclusions with just a few facts combined with the creative right hemisphere of our brain that fills in gaps with amazing assum

Cool Vibes!

It’s June and still 46 degrees! As I work, exercise or just sit back on the couch checking my social media, heat waves keep coming over like an uninvited guest and bring up that little frown line on my forehead.   Over the years, thanks to global warming things have just gotten worse and while I can still do my share of protecting the environment, the fact is that the weather conditions are largely out of my hands. Just like the harsh climate, every now and then we encounter such not-so-pleasant situations that are beyond our control. I staunchly live by the principles of hard work and consistent efforts and believe that every problem has a solution. But yes, there are always exceptions and sometimes the only way out is- to face it with a smile. In case of summers, you may have little windows like your air conditioned homes and offices but practically you cannot confine yourself to closed spaces and have to step out into the sunlight at some point of time. I know that doe
