Be Wise, Think Right

Yayy! My blog turns three years old today. I had been a quiet year for my blog, after I shifted most of my thoughts and experiences to micro-blogging on my instagram account. But this year, I’ve decided to write more, and at length on the website.

Happy Independence Day

It’s Independence Day and I just recollected a line from the Constitution of India, one which I recited everyday during school. It said that every Indian has the freedom of thought, speech and expression. I’ve always picked up the first one as the biggest challenge of life- Freedom of Thought. With so much of societal conditioning, it takes a great deal of effort to break-free and let your mind wander into its depth and upto the heights of one’s potential. For those who dare to think beyond the boundaries of social norms and let their mind rule with all its wisdom, deserve a salute!

Freedom of Thought

Freedom of Thought according to me is a state of mind that nourishes your existence, helps you grow, achieve your goals and better your life in every aspect. Because freedom equates to happiness, maybe you can put freedom of thought as a completely “happy state of mind”? But then there are a lot of incidences happening around that don’t ‘allow’ you to be in this blissful state, isn’t it? Your aunt taunted you for not being married, your colleague tried to steal your idea, your customer gave you a terrible feedback- there’s no dearth of moments that are ready to trap your mind into a loop of thoughts that don’t help you in any way!

Who rules whom?

The British left us long back and thankfully we’re in a democratic set-up. I won’t get into the long discussion of politics; this post is only about self-assessment, about the idea of ‘real freedom’, which I believe has its roots in one’s mind.
Here are some statements:
“I cannot forget what she did to me”
“How will I overcome my fear?”
“Can’t get over it”
“I don’t see any hope”
“Problems don’t seem to end”
“There’s no way out”
“I tried my best but I couldn’t forget him/her”
“I’ll show them properly”
“I’ll make sure they regret this”
“I don’t know what to do”

Heard any of these? Said any of these? How many? Maybe all of them! These are just a few expressions of anger, insecurities, hatred, sadness and helplessness. We all have these things within us! Our mind has 4 zones- the good, the bad, the strong and the weak. The sample statements given above are combinations of strong- bad, weak- good and weak- bad.

If only the good and strong zones are active, then these thoughts will fade away sooner else you’ll be taken down on a trail of actions and that will definitely not be the path to progress!

Let’s say that your good and strong zones rule, then the statements given above would be re-written; like-
“I cannot forget what she did to me”  will be replaced as
“It’s okay. My karmic cycle is positive and that is what really matters”

“How will I overcome my fear?” as
“I will face it”

“Can’t get over it” as
“It’s a thing of the past. Let it Go”
….and so on.

Isn’t that what you really want, a life where you experience ultimate happiness every second!

So my dear friends, take some time off for yourself and introspect as to which zones of your mind are active at what times. A little change of thoughts can work a great deal!

And well, the other day I attended a pre-launch event at Starbucks, Ahmedabad. These pictures are from that day’s merriment.

I hope you guys have a year full of ‘real freedom’. Very soon I’ll be completing another year of my fabulous life and will be sharing my next blog post around those days.

If you liked this post, do share it. Thank you!
