When the successful ones share their story, the aspiring ones
would be all ears. Recently fashion bloggers from Ahmedabad had a candid
interview session with celebrity designers Shantanu & Nikhil at their new
store opening in the city; their seventh flagship store in India.
Having designed for an elite list of clients, including the legend Mr. Amitabh Bachchan and a number of B-town beauties, these celebrity designers were most humble and grounded. The journey upwards in an industry that is highly unpredictable can never be a cake-walk and the ones who make it big there, surely deserve more accolades.
Shantanu and Nikhil started their team journey during the beginning of the new millennium, a time when the fashion industry was in its infancy. Being from a humble background, they have worked from ground zero and come a long way to establishing themselves globally in the glittering world that has its own maze of struggle. With Shantanu being the corporate guy and Nikhil as the creative mind, the two have set an example of not just successful creativity, but also successful teamwork.
The new store is located near the SG Highway (Ahmedabad), a quaint secluded structure that speaks luxury, regality and elegance. It has wide range of menswear clothes, footwear and other accessories. Shantanu & Nikhil’s collections have a contemporary look, well-rooted into the Indian culture. Their outfits have a stylish blend of distinctive garment conceptualization as well as proper garment detailing of handmade motifs, artwork of chains, stylish buttons and other fabric accompaniments. The designers are deeply influenced by World War 2 and the military forces and this is reflected in their collection that is dominated by darker hues and sturdy patterns. Although at present they have only menswear at the store, they plan to come up with trunk shows for women soon!
Well the city is getting glamorous at a high pace. So bring out your stylish best! I guess that calls for a wardrobe reshuffle or umm, let’s say.. Shopping?!
