In A BARBIE World!

Blonde hair, big eyes, frilly frocks and high heels, childhood memories of a girl will surely have all of these. We grew up in a world of fantasy, where dolls were our first group of friends. Out of the plethora of dolls available around the world, there is one beauty that has ruled our hearts for decades- BARBIE. With a flash of pink innocence Barbie made its way into millions of hearts, making beautiful memories with its wonderful fantasy stories.

The  fashionista doll was created by Ruth Handler and first launched on 9th March 1959. (Source: Wikipedia). Hence, 9th March is its official birthday. I got my first Barbie at the age of three and till date, I have always been mesmerized by the doll and its lovely world. So this year, I decided to celebrate my favorite doll’s birthday by dressing up like her!

This is a chic look for a party for which I picked up pink and red elements from my wardrobe.  I had mentioned in one of my previous posts that I usually prefer plain outfits over printed ones. So I opted for a plain pink off shoulder dress. One outfit can be used to create different looks. It’s all about teaming it up with different accessories. For the party look, I teamed up the dress with pink and red pencil heels and a red metallic sling clutch. For jewelry I added a pearl bracelet with a ‘B’ letter charm (luckily Barbie and I have the same initial), pink nails and red lips to complement the colors of my outfit and of course, an oversized pair of ornate-framed shades!

Unlike my fetish for plain outfits, I prefer outstanding statement accessories. These pearl and stone shades are one of those picks. Such accessories should be carefully styled and teamed up with ensembles that have relatively subtle elements and plain surfaces.

Alternatively, the pink dress can be teamed up with silver or white sneakers and a white sling bag for a casual day look.

Fifty-eight years later, as Barbie continues to successfully charm the world with her beauty, she teaches us a very important thing- continuous innovation is an essential ingredient for success.

So my girlies, let’s celebrate the existence of Barbie with all zing, the doll who made our childhood so beautiful!
Keep styling and keep looking your best!
Happy Styling!!

Love,
Bhavs
