Don't Be Lazy

Foggy mornings, soothing sun and intermittent chilly winds; winter is indeed a beautiful break from extended summers. I love everything about this season (including Gajar ka Halwa). Well yes, I agree that winter does tend to make one feel lazy and at times I do feel like becoming a frog and going into hibernation for three months, but I’ve been working on getting over this. Laziness is just a state of mind and it has actually got nothing to do with the weather or even the amount of work or time at hand. Once we start ruling our minds, laziness is bound to be just a thing of the past.

I usually meet a lot of people who tell me that they do not get time for themselves, having been surrounded by hectic schedules and routines. No time or energy to work-out neither to work on looking presentable or fulfill long-pending desires. Honestly, I go through the same issue from time to time. Having put in my efforts on my goals, I used to hardly have any time and energy left for my myself or my leisurely activities until I realized that ‘self-care’ is a goal too!

As you start ignoring yourself, you send a message to the Universe that you are not important and when you do that, how can you expect the world to value you? I wouldn’t say that people must leave their work aside and just work upon themselves. But yes, amidst your responsibilities towards the world, you must not evade your responsibilities towards yourself. When you’re hard-working enough to do two-hours overtime at the office or cook an extra meal for those guests who suddenly arrive at your doorstep, then why be lazy on yourself? You are the master of your time, capabilities and your energy and you ought to get the maximum benefit of these.

It’s necessary to be regular with your duties towards yourself- your needs and wishes. It could be something as serious as a medical treatment for a neglected ailment or something as small as painting your nails! Certain things ought to be done because they make you happy and happiness is everyone’s birth right, isn’t it? Again like always, I would say that it’s all about having the right balance. Shunning laziness towards yourself should not come at the cost of completely avoiding your duties. With some rationality and an open heart you can definitely have it all in place!

After giving up on laziness, I’ve really started loving winters. Apart from the beauty of this season, there are plenty of winter wardrobe elements that make styling fun! I like layering my summer dresses with coats, sweaters and scarves, the way I’ve layered my pink dress with a velvet trench coat. This way my summer wardrobe doesn’t lie around at the back of my closet for months. Ahmedabad is not too cold this year else I would have loved to add a pair of elegant gloves to my winter chic look.
Coming back to laziness, I would suggest that you all once reflect upon your life to check if things are really going the way you want and if not, then stop being lazy!

I’ll be posting my next blog really soon. Do leave your feedback in the comments section and if you liked this post, do share it!

Thank you!

Love,
Bhavs
