The Modern Red Riding Hood
Be The Smartest Version Of Yourself
We grew up listening to stories. Some fairytales made us
believe in magic, while many of them gave us lessons to remember for life. One
such anecdote which my mother narrated when I was a kid was the story of The
Little Red Riding Hood. To summarize quickly, it tells us about a little girl,
who goes to meet her ailing grandmother. She comes across a wolf on her way and
on being questioned, tells the wolf about her journey to her grandmother’s
house. By doing so, she puts her granny’s life as well as her own life in
danger. Of course, in the end, both the ladies are saved by the villagers.
Talking about reality, we are surrounded by such stories,
just that they are much more complicated. For example, in this story as Red
comes across one wolf; in reality we are surrounded by beasts. The only
difference is that they are masked with human faces. These beasts are out there
to obstruct your growth, to make you deviate from your path or just create
havoc in your life. They could be your competitors, your foes, or just sadists.
It may also not be possible to stop them always, for many-a-times you don’t
even know who these beasts are! Now the question is, how do save yourself and
keep going ahead?
“Trust” is not an absolute term. It is a continuum. In your
life, there will be some people whom you would completely distrust while few would
fall on the other extreme. Who is placed at what point of the trust continuum
decides your vulnerability to being hurt, cheated and shattered. So you have to
be very cautious in placing people on the Trust Scale.
Secondly, your senses should always be active. You shouldn’t
let go too much and not overlook repeated mistakes. Keep assessing the accuracy
of your scale regularly. It may happen that someone whom you placed at a higher
point on your trust scale has a changed mind and new intentions.
The precautions that you take may not eliminate such people
completely from your life, but it will definitely create a strong cyst. That
way you may be attacked once by a masked beast, but never twice.
Also, like I always say, it’s all about having the right
balance. Don’t be too obsessed with having your trust scale 100% accurate, for
that will stop you from trusting people and make you cynical. Above all, make
sure that you trust yourself first!
About The
Look:
Red is a colour that I can carry off at any occasion! It’s
the third colour after black and pink that rules my wardrobe. This was a casual
weekend brunch outing and there are times when I just want to feel completely relaxed
(that means no high heels). Hence those rose gold sneakers and a coordinated sling
bag.
These days I have been experimenting with scarves, as seen on my instagram posts. Given the humid climate, I just tried a fix for a bad hair day by tying up a printed scarf over my head. I even avoided heavy make-up and just put an eyeliner and red lip colour to match that dainty red top. Simple and casual!

I hope you liked my casual red with denim look and I also
hope that this article helps you to have a clearer picture about your work,
goals and your people connections.
