A Filter Of Joy

Hey beautiful souls! I hope you’re enjoying the change in weather. I know the climate hasn’t been pleasant at a lot of places, but at least it seems we’re done away with heat waves for a while. Recently someone asked me, “how can you be so cheerful all the while Bhavna? How do you put up a show?” I just laughed out on hearing that. There’s no way one can put up a show 24*7. Being cheerful and happy is all about living with a mindset that nurtures these emotions.

One of my domestic helpers recently was struggling with a couple of issues, finances being one of them. I saw her working overtime at a neighbor’s place and amidst all the stress when her infant grandson crawled up to her, she stole a few moments and laughed along with him.

In another incident, I called up an old friend on her birthday. She was on her out for a family dinner. For the first five minutes she only kept narrating how her kid kept her on her toes and wouldn’t let her stay at peace. And when I asked her, “What is your daughter doing now?” she replied, “She’s sitting on the back seat and watching the other cars pass by.” Sad, her peaceful moments were taken away by her own trail of thoughts!

Recently on a Sunday afternoon I met a group of friends and all that most of them could think about was the amount of work to be completed in office in the coming week, their targets and office politics and so on.

Your life will always have a platter of all emotions- yes ALL! There will be fear, jealousy, joy, peace, anxiousness, anger, sadness and all the different words used to describe positive and negative energy. But at all times, you have to apply that smart filter present in your brain. Remember those days when you were a kid and your parents told you not to do a particular thing but you anyways went ahead and did it? You had the power the power to filter out your parents’ instructions and make yourself happy. Taking some lessons from your younger self, why not apply the same filter and screen out the negative vibes that invade your peace of mind!

Coming back to ‘putting up a show’, well I’m human and like everyone else even I go through emotional highs and lows. But the trick that I’ve been trying to master is to apply the right filter at the right moment and not allow negative emotions to creep into my zone of joy. Chasing my goal of having a beautiful life, I strive to choose happiness at every step!

By the way, yellow is the colour of joy.
Have a delightful week ahead!
Love,
Bhavs
